Complete your response to Defra’s trail hunting consultation

Thank you for filling in Defra's trail hunting consultation, which will help determine how the government regulates trail hunting in England and Wales. Trail hunting emerged after fox hunting was banned in 2004, but in practice it’s often used as cover for hunts to keep killing foxes and other wild mammals. The government has committed to banning trail hunting, and this consultation will shape how that ban is designed. This page will guide you through the form and provide suggested answers and talking points to maximise its impact for animals.

The response should take between 5-15 minutes to complete. When filling it out, please keep the following points in mind:

  • Reword the suggested talking points in your own voice rather than copying them directly. The best responses will sound personal, and not clearly related to other respondents’ answers. Whenever you can, add your own connection to the issue, even briefly.

  • Skip or change the answer to any question where the suggested reasoning doesn't make sense to you. For most questions you can select "Don't know" if that better reflects your view.

  • Respond as an individual. You can respond on behalf of an organisation if you're submitting for one, but please don't say you're responding for UK Voters for Animals.

  • Questions marked with an asterisk are mandatory. The others are optional, though we encourage you to answer as many as you can.
